Sleeping Sisters

 Sometimes in the mornings I will take Emmi in the girls' room to help wake them up for school.  Livi was not budging this morning so I laid Emmi on her hoping it would wake her up.  She just wrapped her arm around her and kept on sleeping.  She never stirred or even opened her eyes.  Emmi just snuggled in and got comfy.  I guess I need a new plan...

Rocking Chair Emmi

When I went to put Emmi to bed I remembered that I had to clear out her crib and change her sheet.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do that since she was already sleeping.  I laid her on her rocking chair while I quickly fixed the crib up.  

This picture makes me a little sad.  Mainly because there was a time when she could actually lay in that chair and have plenty of room to stretch out without touching the sides of the chair.  It also makes me sad because I know in a few months she won't even be able to fit the way she does now.  She's growing SO fast!  Anyone know a way to slow down time???

Big Girl Bed!

A while back we converted Livi's crib to a toddler bed. She was having a hard time falling asleep at night and she wanted us to sit with her. She did stay in her bed all night once she was asleep. Just getting her to sleep was the problem. Well we really couldn't sit on the toddler bed with her, so we decided to go for a REAL big girl bed. We took her to pick out her new sheets. She picked princesses, of course. Then to pick up her bed. We came home and she helped James take apart her crib, or her "pibby" as she called it.

Once that was all done, in went the big girl bed.

She loved it! Once the sheets were on she kept saying, "It's beautiful! It's my beautiful big girl bed!"

I did have to sit with her, and she did ask for her pibby once, but she went to sleep pretty quickly.

In the morning she woke up and said, " I slept in my beautiful big girl bed all night! I LOVE IT! My daddy made it for me!"

Aww. So far, so good. She stays in it all night, and still loves it. The only downside is that it is REALLY comfortable and I keep falling asleep in it when I lay down with her!

Has Anyone Seen My Good Sleeper?

Is this what hell looks like? A sweet toddler that turns EVIL the moment you try to stick her in her crib? A toddler who previously went in her crib with no problems, now screaming blood curdling screams non-stop until gagging and almost vomiting (she actually did spit up once in the last week) the second you even lean her over the crib.

As soon as I laid her mattress on the floor she hopped right on and laid down. I sat on the floor in her doorway for about 20 - 30 minutes while she settled down and went to sleep. After she fell asleep, I had to go out to the garage to get this gate that we never use anymore!

Heaven help me!

The Sleepy Swimmer

I know this isn't the best picture, but it is so darn funny. We went to the pool this morning and Livi fell asleep in my arms IN THE POOL! This kid can really literally sleep anywhere! I laid her on the towel to take her picture, then I transferred her to the shade of her stroller, while everyone else finished swimming. We left the pool not long after this because it was just too hot if you weren't in the water!

Billy (the stuffed lamb in this picture) has been a big part of our lives since Juli was about 3 months old. She took to him and wouldn't let go. Since she was about 6 or 7 months old, she would not go to sleep without him. She rubs the satin ribbon between her thumb and forefinger until she falls asleep. He's her lovey and her best friend.

I don't know if she realizes it yet or not, but there are actually about 5 "billies" in rotation at our house. LOL

The REAL Sleeping Beauty

Tonight Juli fell asleep on the family room floor. She has NEVER fallen asleep anywhere other than in her carseat, stroller or RIGHT next to a grown up. So of course I had to grab the camera and document it!! She must have been really tired!!

Livi Learns to Sleep

We have been doing CIO ('Cry It Out' or Ferberizing, for those that don't know is a way for her to learn how to self-soothe and fall asleep on her own) with Livi for almost a week now. Naps are still not going that great. I had a hard time with her with naps this past weekend too. I'm not too concerned about naps right now as long as she is going to sleep on her own at night. We'll keep working on the naps.

Tonight I took Livi up, put on her PJs, etc. When I went to put her in her crib I fully expected some crying if even just a minute like the last 3 nights. She laid right down, rolled on her belly and didn't make a peep! YAY!! I am so happy you cannot even understand!!! I know this is typical for most babies her age, but not for us. Juli is and was so hard to get to sleep that this is simply amazing to me! Livi has always been a good sleeper as far as sleeping goes, she just needed to be held to go to sleep. Once she was asleep she pretty much stayed asleep all night, unless she had an ear infection or a tooth popping through or something.

Here's hoping for continuing success with this!!

Sweet Dreams

Juli got a new Cinderella (princess) comforter and sheets for her bed for Christmas in the hopes that it would entice her to sleep there. We set her up with her new bed and she was really excited! She got in bed and laid down, but once she realized it was bed time, she wanted no part of it! LOL She did fall asleep in it and lasted a few hours there. Hopefully very soon she'll stay there all night.

Naptime

The girls took a nap at the same time today. I laid Livi on Juli's blanket after she fell asleep. They looked so cute, I couldn't resist taking a picture.

Wordless Wednesday 12.12.07

Goodnight Sweetheart!

Tonight is Livi's first night sleeping in her room. She has been sleeping all night for a while (in our room), and since we don't need the air conditioner at night anymore, it's time. She went to bed fine. I heard her get quiet and peaked in on her, she was still. I went in to see if she was asleep and this is how I found her:

Notice the little foot peeking out from between the bars, lol. Don't worry I fixed it after I took this picture and also pulled the bumper back up to the top of the crib. She doesn't usually move much at night, so I don't think she'll get past the bumpers again. I'm suprised she is sleeping on her side, she usually sleeps flat on her back. As long as she sleeps all night, I don't care if she sleeps standing on her head, LOL!

Sleeping Juli

Juli fell asleep by herself tonight. No, this is not something she does regularly. It has been a battle since birth to get her to go to sleep. Tonight she laid down and went to sleep all by herself when I told her to. She also put herself down at naptime too. She has to go to sleep by herself at school. I'm thinking this school thing may be good for her.


Note she is still wearing her slippers. I didn't want to try to take them off since she was laying down, so I'll take them off later. Let's hope this is the start of something beautiful...
